Can you believe we’re almost in the third part of 2021 already? This year has flown by in the blink of an eye, and I hope it’s brought you as much joy as it has me. In celebration of our health and wellbeing, even in the midst of a global pandemic, I wanted to take the time to thank my readers for staying tuned to my blog every month. And an even bigger thank you to those who bought my book! Your purchase did more than bring Oman’s most picturesque imagery to your coffee table – you’re also helping me bring the spirit of my homeland to the world!

A lot of people ask me where my passion for photography began, and to be honest, I’ve been fascinated with the visual medium for what feels like my whole life. But it truly began when I was around 10 years old. My father gifted me my first camera – a Kodak Ektralite 10 – and little did I know that this would mark the beginning of a thriving career that led me to where I am today.

Exploring the world with my Kodak Ektralite 10 in hand is what taught me about the beautiful planet we live on. I immediately started to build my mental encyclopedia of the world, its people, its landscapes, and it’s incredibly diverse cultures.

What started out as a hobby is now a passion, and I’m honored to be able to live my passion for photography every day. In fact, I wandered Oman for more than 30 years, capturing the beauty of my landscape, nature, people, and the cultural traditions that define us. I weaved my way between land, mountain, and sea to freeze-frame life through my lens. I hiked for hours. I rode four-wheel for days to capture the most magical moments that make Oman, well, Oman.

By 1999, I’d published a photo calendar of Oman, “Discover Oman.” It wasn’t just my first photo calendar, but it was the first photo calendar ever created by an Omani photographer that was released on the Sultanate.

After the overwhelming success and feedback I received through Discover Oman, I dabbled with the idea of publishing a photo book about Oman. I wanted to share my photography with the world beyond Oman’s borders, but I still had work to do. The road ahead was long if I wanted to publish something exceptional that would bring people together through breathtaking photography that captures the unspoiled landscape of Oman.

And so, I got to work – and by 2012, my plans to publish my first photo book about Oman were set in stone. It took a great deal of time, effort, and sleepless nights to bring my vision to life, but I did it – and this is the philosophy I wish to impart on my followers and friends. If you can imagine a goal, you can achieve it with the right attitude and mindset!

Today, my photo book – Oman: A Paradise of Land and People – is a compilation of my best Oman photography as a passionate Omani photographer. This photo book was born out of my passionate and adoration for both photography and my beloved homeland. Each page and the 96 photos that line this coffee table staple showcase the raw and natural beauty of Oman, her Omani people, and the cultures and traditions that define her. When you open the photo book about Oman, you’ll find some pictures taken a few years ago – some 25 years ago. But no matter the distance in time between them, each photo shares the same pristine scenery, and I hope to pass this down from generation to generation and beyond.

Consider Oman: A Paradise of Land and People my love song to all the beautiful souls and landscapes I have captured and encountered through my Oman photography over the past 30 years. I’ve come a long way on my journey as an Omani photographer so far, and the road ahead is still long – but I can’t wait to walk it with you. And so, I graciously encourage you to visit my country of Oman, immerse in its captivating backdrop, and learn more about the cultures that fuel one’s spirit with love and light.

Welcome to Oman, a Paradise of Land and People!
